Red Hat Database 2.0 Release Notes ================================== Copyright (c) 2001, 2002 Red Hat, Inc. This document details the features that are new to Red Hat Database 2.0. Note: Red Hat recommends that you update your Red Hat Linux Advanced Server 2.1 or Red Hat Linux 7.3 environment to the latest errata. There have been a number of issues addressed that could affect the operation of Red Hat Database. 1. Migration A dump / restore is required to migrate data from previous versions of Red Hat Database to Red Hat Database 2.0. 2. Enhancements and Changes included in Red Hat Database 2.0 . Red Hat Database is now powered by the latest stable community version of PostgreSQL, 7.2.2, plus specific enhancements back ported from PostgreSQL 7.3. These enhancements include, but are not restricted to: . pg_dump enhancements to BLOB support, ALTER TABLE PRIMARY KEY and rules / views involving FULL JOIN USING. . psql enhancements to show rules when describing a view, tab completion offering view names as well as table names, and correction of parenthesis state after \g or \r commands. . VACUUM enhancements. . ODBC installation installs header files. . Red Hat Database Administrator, a graphical tool for database administrators to define and maintain their database clusters. . Red Hat Database Visual Explain, a graphical tool for database administrators and developers to display representations of query plans. 3.
