z/IPL is a software boot loader that can be used to start Red Hat Linux on your computer.
The z/IPL boot loader installs, by default, on the DASD containing the /boot directory. You can add other kernel versions by adding new target, image, and parameter lines to /etc/zipl.conf and executing zipl.
The default parameters are taken from the .parm file or from user supplied data.
If you wish to add default options to the boot command, enter them into the parameters field. Any options you enter will be passed to the Linux kernel every time it boots.
